For many of us, the evening is the time when we most get to see and spend time in our living room yet sometimes we forget this when we design our room and somehow think we will always be using it on a sunny summer day. Here are some ways to make sure that your living room is at its best in the evening as well as during the main part of the day:-

1. Lighting

Make sure that you can reduce light levels in the evening as this makes for a more relaxing atmosphere. If living roomyou have ceiling spotlights or a pendant light turn it off in the evening and use gentler table lamps instead.

2. Get Rid Of Work and Clutter

If you work at home or spend a lot of the day in your living room get rid of the evidence of day time activities when it is time to relax.

3. Make an Adult Space

Living rooms generally get taken over by childrens’ toys and games. when children are ready for bed (even if they are not ready!) get them into a routine of helping to put the toys and games away so that the adults can reclaim the space.

4. Add Comfort

The living room will be a focus for winter comfort so make sure it is cozy and comfortable. A log fire is an ideal focal point or simply add comfort to sofas and floors with beautiful rugs and fluffy soft throws. In summer, if you live in a quiet area, open the windows and enjoy the gentle sounds and soft evening air from the garden.

5. Relaxing Music

Give yourself a chance to relax by turning off the TV with all the doom and gloom of the News and all those crime thrillers and dramas (not to mention the annoying ads) which put you on edge. Make sure your living room has a means of playing your favorite music whether it is a music system just for the room or it is piped in from another room in your home.
