Ask any freelance writer and they would say that a tool to have, one you cannot do without is a desk lamp. This item would be further improved if it were an adjustable desk lamp. For freelance writers or indeed anybody whose work involves, being chained to a desk for great lengths of time have a pet hate and that is the fading of natural light.

There is nothing worse than being in an absolute zone, where the words are flowing like water or a better description would be, like milk and honey almost as if would know you were meant to write this piece. Then the headaches start because your eyes are beginning to strain under low light conditions and you completely lose your train of thought. It is like a foot thick iron door was dropped between you and your inspiration and you are completely stuck.

This dreaded block does not have to be the rule and we of course are not subject to the shadows of the night anymore. With a quick reach over to the side of the desk the adjustable desk lamp is there and you do not even have to think about it after a while. The action becomes completely automatic like some sort of muscle memory and this way you do not have to get up and put on the main light, thus losing your stream of inspiration.

So friends, girlfriends, wives and parents, if you have a one of those moody, and eccentric writers who seem to constantly complain about the low light conditions; this would make a great Christmas gift. Useful and considerate, an adjustable desk light would solve many problems and serve many aims. It is funny how the simplest things, so simple we hardly even think about them make the best and most useful tools and gifts.
