Bathroom Light Fixtures
Bathroom light fixtures, like most light fixtures, come in a dazzling variety of shapes and finishes. Whether your home is Victorian or modern, there is bathroom lighting to fit your decor. Let’s start with the ceiling. You have to have a ceiling light in your bathroom. There are many styles of ceiling light fixtures. A popular and classic style is (as pictured) a globe light fixture.
Easy to mount and generally inexpensive, a globe light fixture might be just perfect.
There are other choices for ceiling lighting, of course. Many people choose fluorescent lighting. It’s practical, certainly. Bright light without fuss is how I’d describe fluorescent lights. They are easy to install and maintain. They are easy on the budget, too as they don’t use much energy. It’s OK to imagine installing a fluorescent light as your ceiling light and then doing something more creative with the other lights…..
Because you have to have other lighting in the bathroom. As I have said before, you need levels of lighting. So we have the ceiling figured out. Let’s talk about the walls. The walls are a great place to add lighting. In a bathroom surface area is at a premium. You may decide, as a decorating choice, to have a small lamp on the bathroom vanity. That’s truly a decoration, an accent. It’s not going to give you enough light to floss your teeth by.

If you’re talking wall lights, you’reĀ talking sconces. I love scones. They give a room a nice glow and an classy feel. For bathrooms make sure you choose fixtures that are easy to clean! I like the style pictured above, but depending on your level of neat-freakiness, this might be too much. For me, a quick run with the feather duster and an occasional serious cleaning is fine. A few cobwebs never hurt me. And we don’t have that much company!
There are so many styles for sconces, so really take your time in choosing.
I’ll end with the no-brainer lighting suggestion — a lighted mirror. What bathroom would be without one and yet, how many of my friends have dark bathrooms? I always wonder, how do they put on makeup? A few of them are renters so I understand that there’s little they can do to improve the lighting situation, but a few of them own their home and still have dark bathrooms!
You can add a room of vanity lights above a mirror for under $100. The wiring is super easy. If you’re at all handy, you can do this project. Extra bathroom lighting…. It will make all the difference in your morning routine.
